See more about us and who we are!

Boat size and membership ages are greatly varied. Our fleet starts at 17′ Open Boats and goes to 50′ Cabin Cruisers. All are welcome!
Members enjoy a spring and a Fall Picnic. Generally one of the three day events is held at an eastern location (watch Hill, Davis Park, etc.) and the other is held further west (Atlantique, Cedar Beach, etc.). During the day we enjoy Clams, Cocktails, Chili, and many other foods that vary by year. Dinner is catered by one of the many great Long Island Restaurants.
Great South Bay typically hosts 4 raft ups per season in the Connetquot River and Hemlock Cove!
Our SERAT Unit (Unit 08-01 shown) coordinates with the Coast Guard and other emergency response units to help boaters on the South Shore of Long Island.
Annually District 3 (Long Island) hosts a Rendezvous ‘East’ where members from all 13 Long Island Squadrons travel to the Montauk/Greenport area (varies by year) for a weekend long event/party. Our members typically travel in groups of 3 – 7 boats to ensure safe passage and make sure no member is left behind.
When you want in-person boating education from certified instructors, we offer several types of training to meet your needs. You can dive deep with 6–8 week courses, get your feet wet with 2-hour seminars and take the helm with our flexible on the water boating instruction led by certified volunteer instructors who are boaters just like you.
Who doesn’t have a smile on their face whenever they’re on a boat? You can’t help yourself. Boating is the definition of getting away from it all. And getting away from it all is always more fun as a member of United States Power Squadrons. Beyond being a safe and confident boater, you’ll also enjoy cruises, sail races, navigation contests, fishing derbies, and unlimited fun with squadron friends.
